20 years ago, a 31 year old driver out of Mobile, Alabama came to Penascola for his shot at the Snowball Derby. His name was Rick Crawford.
Crawford, a former track champion at Five Flags Speedway and Mobile International Speedway, found his way to victory lane that year. And from there, the rest is history. In 1997, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series came calling, and Crawford answered. In his first full season, Crawford qualified for every race and had ten top-tens and finished 12th in the points.
Now, at the age of 51, Crawford continues to race. Along with his successful career, Crawford host his own program on Sirius NASCAR Radio on Channel 128.
In the picture above, you and see a young Crawford and the Official Program of the 1989 Snowball Derby with Ted Musgrave on the cover.
Thanks to the Snowball Derby, Crawford's career is one that many dream of. Who's dreams will come true in 2009?
