Kyle Busch wins the 42nd Annual Snowball Derby!

{nl}     Kyle Busch thrives in the limelight whether it’s cheers or boos and on Sunday night drews mostly cheers and he won the 42nd annual Snowball Derby in front of a sellout crowd at Five Flags Speedway.     The current NASCAR Sprint Cup star dominated this season, winning the Nationwide and Truck series. He had a disappointing Sprint Cup season, winning just four races and finishing out of the Cup Chase. That allowed him to come to Pensacola for the Snowball Derby and he led three times for 99 laps, including the final 25.     “Winning the Snowball Derby means so much to me.”


The Moment of Truth

     This is the moment of truth. Since the checkers fell one year ago, drivers from all of the country have waited for this day. Considered the Super Bowl of short track racing, today history will be made. Today, a driver will live forever in racings legacy. Today is the Snowball Derby!     Teenagers will lead the way in the biggest race of them all. Johanna Long, the 17 year old hometown favorite out of Pensacola set the mark with a qualifying time and new track record of 16.463. Next to her, son of NASCAR Champion Matt Kenseth, Ross Kenseth. But in the review mirror looms future legends.


Augie Grill does it again! He wins Snowflake 100!

{nl}       Augie Grill continued his domination of Pro Late Model racing this season at Five Flags Speedway, winning the Allen Turner Hyndai Snowflake 100 Saturday night.  But he certainly made it exciting at the finish.       After leading most the of last half of the race, he was passed by polesitter T.J. Reaid with four laps left before making his own pass for the lead two laps from the finish to win the prestigious Pro Late Model event.


Allen Turner Snowflake 100 – TONIGHT!

{nl}      It's become the biggest Pro Late Model race in the country, the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 is set for Five Flags Speedway tonight. Over 58 cars will attempt to make the show later on this evening with the leftovers moving to two last chance races. Come check out Hunter Robbins, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliot, and Kyle Busch do battle on the high bank half mile oval.      And don't forget about the Derby cars. Tonight, it's their last chance to make it to the big show tomorrow. We'll have ONE 50 lap shootout to set the field for the 42nd Annual Snowball Derby.      Qualifying begins at 2:00 PM!


Johanna Long wins Pole for the 42nd Snowball Derby

{nl}           It will be teen day on the front row Sunday for the 42nd annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway. Blizzard Series champion Johanna Long, all of 17 years old, and Ross Kenseth a 16-year-old are the two fastest drivers for the prestigious race. Long, the popular track champion, blasted the old track record on a cold night Friday with a lap of 16.463 seconds.      Ross Kenseth, the son of NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Matt Kenseth, had a time of 16.488 seconds. They will start Sunday’s race in front of Sprint Cup star Kyle Busch, who was third fastest. Starting fourth will be two-time defending Snowball Derby champion Augie Grill.


Thursday Night Results

          Kenny Bullard won the 30-lap Butler U-Pull It Bomber feature by not being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The driver from Cantonment took over the lead three laps from the finish when the top two cars were involved in a crash. He then held off season points champion William Goulet for the prestigious victory. “It was a good, hard race,” said a julibant Bullard in Victory Lane.      Jonathan Day of Theodore, Ala., appeared set to win the race after taking the lead from polesitter Mike Goraum on Lap 7. After dodging several lap cars as he approached the end of the race, Day couldn’t avoid a lap car that had spun in front of him. He hit the car hard, while Goraum also suffered some damage.
