Print This!

Chuck Corder Augie Grill had an important question for his crew. “Do y’all wanna pose for some pictures? They’re just gonna look like they did last time,” Grill joked. Grill, as is his custom, shot to the front early and held off a late charge from wunderkind Chase Elliott to win the Print Now 100 on Friday at Five Flags Speedway. It was Grill’s second consecutive trip to Victory Lane in a super late model race and stretch his all-time Blizzard Series record to eight wins. It might sound like a broken record, but the feeling of winning at Five Flags never gets old for the proficient Alabama driver. “The points are great and wonderful, but we race to win. It’s special,” Grill said. “We’ve done two in a row for a few years now. I’d like to get that third, but we’re building toward that championship.” Grill [...]

His Star Rising, Chase Elliott Makes Return to Five Flags

This article first appeared in June 23 editions of the Pensacola (FL) News Journal. Chuck Corder How fast can Chase Elliott go? For Elliott, the 15-year-old son of NASCAR great Bill Elliott, the hammer is down on a future that seems limitless. Like the No. 9 he deftly drives, Chase Elliott’s blossoming racing career is moving quickly these days. His life in the fast lane makes a Pensacola pit stop when he returns for the Print Now 100 on Friday at Five Flags Speedway. It is Elliott’s first Blizzard Series appearance since dominating the division en route to the season championship last year. “We had a few good races last year,” the always-humble Elliott said. “That was last year; this is this year.” The modifieds, sportsmen and bombers also continue their respective years when the gates open at 5 p.m. Friday. There also will be a [...]

Kenzie Ruston Destined for Racing

Kenzie Ruston seemed destined for racing at an early age.She had her big green eyes set on climbing onboard a dirt bike. After all, Ruston thought she’d follow in the family footsteps that her father and older male cousins had first carved out. Darren Ruston quickly pumped the brakes on that dream, careful to not put his daughter in harm’s way. “Dad got me yard cart and a four-wheeler,” Kenzie, 19, said. “I was always the tomboy.” The tomboy is now one of stock-car racing’s budding drivers and will go up against another young star Friday in Pensacola. Along with Chase Elliott and the usual cast of super late model characters, Ruston will headline a dynamic super late model field for the Print Now 100 at Five Flags Speedway. This is Ruston’s first of the season, but the third of five Blizzard Series races. “I really wanted [...]

Sponsor Spotlight: Print Now Leaves Impression at Five Flags

Of the multitude of things Five Flags Speedway gets right, the Friday night fellowship is near the top of the list. From the pits to the grandstands, from Bomber to Late Model drivers, from lifelong to novice fan, there’s a special camaraderie that oozes throughout America’s favorite home track. It’s an attractive trait to small businesses, such as Print Now, the sponsor for this Friday’s 100-lap Blizzard Series race that will feature the likes of Chase Elliott, Bubba Pollard, Augie Grill and Kenzie Ruston, just to name a few. “It’s a great little community when you get out there,” said Kim Franklin, who co-owns Print Now with husband Doug and fellow partners John and Deborah Holland. “Everybody knows everybody. That’s what we need in a town like ours.” It has been such an infectious experience for the Franklins and Hollands, that the owners [...]
