Dan VanderLey represented the owners and crews and fans’ David Ragan was the spokesperson for the 200 plus drivers who participated. Both lauded the family for building the 4 day event into a national showplace for late model and local drivers, and continuing to make improvements to benefit the sport and the fans.
19 Wins Leaves 2011 Behind as a Memorable Season www.bubbapollard.net Bubba Pollard's 19 wins coming into the 44th Annual Snowball Derby Weekend made him an early favorite for the win in the prestigious 300-lap event and also the 100-lap Pro Late Model Snowflake 100. He backed up his favorite status in qualifying for both with a pole run and a new track record that ended a 31-year mark that was previously held by Gary Balough in the Super Late Model Snowball Derby and the quickest time of them all again for the Snowflake on Saturday. BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (December 9, 2011) – Overcoming incredible odds, Bakersfield’s Derek Thorn nearly pulled off a top-ten in the 44th annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL over the weekend, driving from his 30th starting position up near the top-ten before a disastrous crash ended his day with just 5 laps remaining in the 300 lap contest. Thorn made the race behind the wheel of the #26 Sigma Engineering Solutions / JRC Toyota Camry with significant fan and sponsor support from throughout the racing industry.
