FUNERAL SET FOR SATURDAY FOR GREG YOUNG

Gregory Allen Young, 50, of Pensacola, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012. Born on July 2, 1962 in Savannah, TN, he resided locally for most of his life. Greg was an electrician and was employed by Kellogg Brown & Root Construction. An avid race car driver, for 25 years he raced at Five Flags Speedway. He enjoyed Mardi Gras and was a member of the Krewe Duex, and loved spending time with friends riding his Harley Davidson. He will be remembered as a loving man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Preceded in death are his father, Kenneth Wayne Young and a sister, Gayla Porter. Left to cherish his memory, his mother, Loudene Young; fiancée, Tanya Jernigan; daughter, Jessicca Jernigan; son, Blake Mercer; granddaughter, Kali Herring; brother, Daryl Young (Lisa); nephews, Tyler Young, Chase Young and Justin Milam. 5 FLAGS FORMER PROMOTER PASSES AWAY ON HIS 74TH BIRTHDAY.

Wastle Spears 1938-2012 On October 28, 2012, he celebrated his 74th birthday by going home to meet our Lord. Wastle passed away at West Florida Hospital in the company of family and friends. A native of Chumuckla, Wastle was a graduate of Chumuckla High School, class of 1956. He spent much of his early life farming and was always involved in the Chumuckla community coaching the "Best little league baseball team ever." He retired from Monsanto in 1996 after 35 years in the sheet metal shop. As promoter of Five Flags Speedway from 1990 to 1997, he was a major contributor in the local racing community. Since retirement he has enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending as much time as possible with his family. SEC COMPETITORS ENTER SNOWBALL WEEKEND RACES

SEC, (South East Competitors) from Alabama, Florida, and Georgia have sent in their registrations. Mobile business executive David Jones in the Allen Turner Snowflake 100. Brandon Odom of DeFuniak Springs, FL and rising Georgia driver Spencer Davis, are both running in the Snowflake and Snowball Derby. 3 VETERAN DRIVERS ARE RETURNING

Entries have been received from Mike Garvey, of Pensacola, formerly from Atlanta. Mike won the Allen Turner Pro Late Model championship for 2011, and will run cars in the Allen turner Snowflake and Snowball Derby. Both are sponsored by Buddy’s Home Rental Centers. Johnny Vandoorn from Coopersville, Michigan will be back in the Snowball, as will Dennis Schoenfeld of Van Buren, Arkansas. DEFENDING CHAMP TO RETURN, ALONG WITH 2 STRONG CHALLENGERS

Chase Elliott, who brought the fans to their feet for the exciting finish and win last year has confirmed he will be a part of the 2012 Snowball Derby© and Snowflake 100 He has had a successful year with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. Young gun Kyle Benjamin from Easley SC has traveled to tracks across the South during the year, and will be returning to the Snowball and Snowflake 100. Midwest veteran Donnie Wilson hasn’t spent much time at home in Oklahoma City this year, with trips to big Super Late Model competitions during the summer.
