With wet conditions looking eminent for the weekend, the First Annual Sweat Hogg Grand Prix and Super Moto event scheduled for Saturday at 5 Flags Speedway has been postponed. The event has been re-scheduled for Saturday, January 31st, and will run in conjunction with the 11th Annual Racer’s Swap Meet, which is held in the Speedway parking lot during the morning hours.
The top 5 drivers in the six local divisions will receive their trophies and checks at the annual banquet. It will be at the Hadji Shrine banquet hall on West 9 Mile road on Saturday January 10th. 6pm socializing, then dinner and the awards. RSVP to the track starting January 5th and before Thursday the 8th. $20 for dinner and drink. Call the office at 944-8400 9am-5pm Have your credit card ready. Crews, owners, drivers, families, and fans all invited.
2015 Modifieds of Mayhem Tour Announced December 19, 2014 Montgomery, AL: In collaboration with South Alabama Speedway, Mobile International Speedway, and Five Flags Speedway, Officials at Montgomery Motor Speedway announced today that a new Open Wheel Modified tour will be offered in 2015 based out of the historic ½ mile facility. The schedule consists of 11 races held at 4 different tracks in Alabama and Florida. Races will all be 50 laps paying $1200 to $1500 to win depending on car count and $100 to start with a $50 entry fee. All tracks have adopted a common rules package and will run the same Hoosier tire for all events. PENSACOLA, FL - With new events, a new track and a new race format, the 2015 schedule for the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco is chock full of excitement for racers and fans alike. The third season of the Southern Super Series will feature a 12-race confirmed schedule with two additional events to be announced soon. Regular events will now follow a 100-lap, four-tire format to help drivers and teams with expenses, while the shorter race (formerly 125 laps) will add to excitement for the fans. The Super Late Model touring series will kick off its season at the 38th Annual Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway (Opp, AL) on March 14 and 15. The series will also have its inaugural visit to Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia on June 6. By Chuck Corder John Hunter Nemechek didn’t wake up feeling like a champion Sunday morning. The 17-year-old son of NASCAR favorite Joe Nemechek arose, stumbling around his hauler on 90 not-so-fresh minutes of sleep. Just hours earlier, the younger Nemechek had wrapped up a runner-up finish in the Snowflake 100 for Pro Late Models. The race didn’t get over until 4 a.m. Sunday becaue of lengthy rain delays pushed back the Saturday night schedule. When he shook the cobwebs loose Sunday, John Hunter Nemechek was flat-out sick. “I was exhausted,” he said. “I puked a few times, and I was losing my voice. I was kinda wishing I didn’t sleep. Without it, I think I would’ve felt just as good.” No one should keep a delirious schedule. But, then again, it did work for Nemechek on Sunday.
