SSS Champ Smith Planning on Stress-Free Snowball Derby

Smith, a native of Austin, Texas, captured the Southern Super Series title in 2015.  No series races at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway more than that one, but he has still yet to win at the challenging half-mile in the panhandle. Maine Street Stock Racer Headed South for Snowball Derby

November 29, 2015 • App, Archives, Other Cars, Snowball Derby, Top Stories Not even in his wildest dreams did Lewis Anderson ever imagine towing from Maine to the panhandle of Florida to race a Street Stock.  But that’s exactly what the 45-year-old grassroots racer from Hollis, Maine is doing. Snowball Derby Serves as a Battleground for Champions

November 27, 2015 • App, Archives, Late Models, Snowball Derby, Top Stories All season long, Late Model racers across the country battle at their respective race tracks and on their respective touring series with the goal of becoming a champion.  At the end of the year, those champions are crowned, and then during the first week of December many of those champions make their way to Pensacola, Florida for the Snowball Derby. Five Flags Success Has Pollard Confident for Snowball Derby

Lap Money from Slinger Helping Prunty Get to ‘The Derby’

November 25, 2015 • App, Archives, Late Models, Snowball Derby, Top Stories Dennis Prunty won the biggest race of his career this past July, taking the checkered flag in the prestigious Slinger Nationals at Slinger Superspeedway (MI).  Prunty led 189 of 199 laps and along with a $10,000 pay day for the win, banked nearly an additional $5,000 in lap money.  As Prunty stood in Victory Lane with his big check, he proclaimed that as a result of the win he could head to the 48thAnnual Snowball Derby on December 6. “I saved the lap money from the Nationals and put it toward the cost of racing the Derby,” Prunty told Speed51.com.  “This race costs more than any other race I race.  I say every year that I’m not going back, but somehow I always get sucked back in.”   Prunty adds his name to a pretty stout list of Midwest drivers who [...]
