Maine Street Stock Racer Ready to Play Grinch at Snowball Derby

Snowball Derby Kickoff Party Tonight at Beef O’Brady’s in Pensacola

It’s time to kick off one of the biggest weekends in short track racing.  On Tuesday night at Beef O’Brady’s in Downtown Pensacola, Florida, drivers, race fans and teams will gather to kick off the 49th Annual Snowball Derby in style. Sargeant Reveals New Look, New Sponsor for Snowball Derby

The Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway (FL) is just six days away.  It’s time to take a look at the 49th running of the race “by the numbers.” 0 – Number of drivers who have swept both the Snowball Derby and the Snowflake 100 in the same weekend. The closest to do it was Augie Grill in 2007 as he finished third in that years’ Snowflake before winning the Derby the next day. Chase Elliott won the Snowflake 100 and the Derby in 2013, but was disqualified from the Derby in post-race technical inspection. 2.p.m. – The start time for the Derby. Snowball Derby Entry List Hits 70 Super Late Models

Race fans, it’s finally here.  Snowball Derby Week is officially upon us.  The 49th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida is less than seven days away, which means it’s time to take a look at the entry list for the biggest asphalt short track race one final time.  More than 230 cars are entered to race during Snowball Derby Week across all divisions from December 1 through December 4. Once again, the Snowball Derby entry list is as deep as it is long.  Seventy drivers have officially filed an entry at the Five Flags Speedway offices.  That means 70 of the best Super Late Model drivers in North America will be fighting for a chance to win the Tom Dawson Trophy. 61-Year-Old Late Model Giant Ready for Snowball Derby

Over the past decade, the Snowball Derby has become an ultimate destination to test the growth of young up-and-coming drivers. But it also still remains a big way to end the year for many veteran racers as it has for the past 48 years. One veteran gearing up for the 49th edition of the race at Five Flags Speedway (FL) is 61-year-old David Rogers, the only driver to participate in one Snowball Derby in each of the last five decades. This season he will attempt to make his 31st start in the Derby, a feat that eluded him last year, putting him within one start of the record (32) set by Red Farmer. Short Track Champions and Winners Make Up Deep Snowball Field

The cast of drivers for the 49th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida is as deep as ever.  It’s full of youth and experience as nearly 70 drivers chase the Tom Dawson Trophy.  Looking over each drivers resume we find winners, champions and short track heroes from all stretches of North America.  Here is a look at the best of the best from this year. Series champions from all regions are well represented.  From the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series, champion Derek Thorn is making a return to the Snowball Derby. By the Numbers: Snowball Derby Pro Trucks

One of the more interesting races of the Snowball Derby weekend is the Pro Truck division that will square off on Saturday night along with the Alan Turner Snowflake 100.  The Pro Trucks line up for what will be their fourth run in front of the Snowball Derby weekend crowd and only one of those former winners is expected to be racing so a fresh face could visit Victory Lane. “The Pro Trucks have really gained in popularity and numbers every since we put them on the track,” said track General Manager Tim Bryant.  “We have seen some great racing from this group and we expect more same during Derby weekend.” The 2016 points championship went to Taylor Jorgensen who won three times during the 2016 season.  Jorgensen who hails from Georgia led a cast in the top 10 that feature drivers from Alabama, Florida, Texas and and the for mentioned [...]
