THE BIG CRANE EXPLAINED
The monster in the parking lot is the largest crane on wheels within 400 miles.
Deep South Cranes of Pensacola just acquired the mammoth machine for contractors
needing a big lift. It weighs a million pounds plus, takes 17 trucks to transport,
and 2 days for a crew to assemble on a job site.
It can lift 600 tons, that’s more than all the cars
on the starting grid of the Snowball Derby,
and can go 500 feet up. Yikes, that’s 50 stories.
Jimmy White of DSC says the suggested name for the big rig
is “The Beast�. It is on display for a few days at the track.
